Senior Consultant – Quality Control, Gender and Development at March Associates. She holds a MSc. Degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Makerere University. She also holds a B.Sc. Degree in Agricultural Sciences (specialized in Agricultural Economics and Extension) from the University of Zambia. In her current position, she is responsible for providing overall quality control checks on data during data analysis and report writing; ensuring that the quality of the report is in tandem with the client’s requirements as per the terms of reference; Mainstreaming of gender in the overall work of March Associates Limited including in the data collection tools as well as reports and lead the production of quality research reports.
Before joining March Associates, she worked as Gender Analyst under the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) Programme at UNDP where her main role was spearheading gender mainstreaming in the programme aimed at reducing greenhouse gases in the country. In this role, she led among others the undertaking of the situational and contextual gender analysis on climate change in Zambia and was the Gender Specialist on the national team that was tasked to undertake the nationwide carbon stock-taking exercise. Maureen also worked at ActionAid Zambia as Programmes Manager – Women’s Rights where she was responsible for the integration of women’s rights in all the programmes of the organisation and
capacity building of women and youth groups on gender, governance and entrepreneurship. Before joining ActionAid Zambia, Maureen worked as Gender and Policy Analyst at the Non-Governmental Gender Organisation’s Coordinating Council (NGOCC).
She was responsible for the analyses of various policy documents from a gender perspective; development of policy statements and issue papers on gender perspectives, development of necessary methods and tools for specific processes and the work of NGOCC.
Maureen also worked as Programme Officer at the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection. She was responsible for managing the rural basket research by collecting data in the focus districts including writing reports and disseminating the report findings to stakeholders.
Through her various work experience, Maureen has acquired many skills including research (proposal design, data collection and analysis and report writing) on several subjects including health, education, climate change, gender and finance; project management, monitoring and evaluation; social accountability and has developed skills in establishing strategic partnerships and team building to create a conducive and trustworthy environment among stakeholders. Further, Maureen has excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
