March Associates was contracted by the World Bank in January 2024 to develop and implement all aspects of the pulse survey that was aimed at better understanding the preferences, aspirations, attitudes, norms, values, and behaviors that influence and shape girls and women’s economic opportunities in East and Southern Africa. The study was conducted in 10 districts of Zambia and Zimbabwe. Study activities involved adaptation of data collection tools, programming questionnaires, interviews with 2,400 girls and young women, and 600 gatekeepers, data synthesis and analysis and report writing.
